A clean coil moves heat more easily, so the compressor runs for shorter periods. The saving depends on how dirty the unit was, but a heavily clogged unit often improves noticeably.
Mould and bacteria grow on a damp, dusty coil and in the drain pan. A deep clean with an anti-bacterial rinse usually removes the smell.
Yes, if it can be reached safely with a ladder or from a balcony. For units that need special access, we discuss it before the visit.
We use coil cleaners made for air conditioners and rinse thoroughly with water. The room can be used as normal afterwards.
Only a pressure reading confirms it. Warm air and frost on the pipes are common signs, but a dirty coil or failed fan can look similar.
Refrigerant is not used up. Low gas means a leak, and refilling without repairing it just wastes money and strains the compressor.
